Lowell began acting in Dangerously Close, followed by a small part in Club Paradise, starring as Robin Williams. 4 She progressed to appear in roles such as co-starring in the role of Bond girl Pam Bouvier in the James Bond film Licence to Kill (1989) as well, starting in 1996 as the assistant district attorney Jamie Ross for two seasons on the TV drama Law & Order, a character she reprised on the show in 2005 to play a guest character in the spinoff series, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, and reprised the role on the original show in 2022 when it returned for a 21st season. Before being cast in the role, she was frustrated with her acting career. She applied to New York University's documentary-filmmaking program.
