Reese Witherspoon feetLaura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, born on March 22, 1976 is an American actress. The recipient of various accolades which include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award as well as the Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she is consistently among the top actresses paid in the world. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people around the globe in 2006 and 2015, and Forbes listed her among the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2021 and 2019. Forbes named her the world's most powerful actress in 2021. Her net worth is believed to be $400 million. Witherspoon first appeared on screen in 1991 when she was she was a teenager. In 1999, she appeared as an actress who played a supporting role in Cruel Intentions and in the role of Tracy Flick in Election. Elle Woods, a comedy comedy (2001) and its 2003 sequel, brought her greater recognition. She was also in Sweet Home Alabama (2002) the romantic comedy. Her work was critically acclaimed, and she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as June Carter Cash, in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a downturn in her career during which Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box office success, Witherspoon decided to make her comeback, producing and perform in Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). This earned her a second Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She has since worked primarily in television, producing and starring in various female-led adaptations of literary works under her company Hello Sunshine. They include Big Little Lies (2017-2018), The Morning Show (2019-20) as well as Little Fires Everywhere (2020), all HBO drama series. She was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Limited Series for the series' first season. She also produced the films Gone Girl (2014), and Where the Crawdads Sing (222). She is a part of the Children's Defense Fund's board and was appointed Global Ambassador of Avon Products in 2007. In this capacity, she also serves as the honorary chair of Avon Foundation's foundation for charitable causes that is dedicated to women's issues.
